Overview

210m mound in Yamato-Takada City, the largest in the southern Umagami group. Managed by the IHA as a mausoleum reference site.

Finds & research

Surveys by Yamato-Takada City Board of Education have confirmed stone paving, haniwa rows, and a surrounding moat (detailed records are limited). National historic site outside IHA jurisdiction. Many details of excavated finds remain unpublished.

Designated as Iwazone Ryobo Sankochi (candidate: Emperor Kenzo). The archaeological date (late 4th c.) greatly precedes the candidate's era.

Field notes

In Yamato-Takada City, this mound (210m keyhole) stands close to the adjacent Konpira-yama Kofun (95m circle), illustrating the relationship between a principal mound and its satellite burial. The name "Tsukiyama" (built hill) reflects its long recognition as a place of burial.
