A square-fronted mound 65m+ long in Katano City, built in the late 4th–early 5th century. Its rear-part clay-encased coffin yielded 3 bronze mirrors and armor — a leading middle-period kofun of north Kawachi, and a rare square-fronted form in Osaka.

Archaeological view
A square-fronted (zenpō-kōhō) mound 65m+ long, built in the middle Kofun period (late 4th–early 5th century). Though altered, the mound is three-tiered, with the rear square part ca. 6m high and the front facing east-southeast. The burial facility is a clay-encased coffin (nendokaku) in the rear part, holding a vermilion-painted split-bamboo-style wooden coffin. Grave goods include 3 bronze mirrors, beads, iron swords and sabers, armor, and agricultural/woodworking tools. Square-fronted mounds are rare in Osaka and suggest links to the Tōkai region. Occupant unknown.

Field notes
Together with Katano-Nishi Kurumazuka it forms the Katano Kurumazuka tomb group. "Katano" was an area famed in antiquity for imperial pastures and falconry grounds. Located near Osaka Prefectural Katano High School.
