Archaeological view
The IHA designates this as the tomb of Lady Taima (Yamashiro), mother of Emperor Junnin. Minamiawaji City identifies the designated tomb, but no public investigation checked establishes an archaeological mound form, size, date, burial facility, or finds.
Imperial Household Agency view
Managed by the IHA as the Awaji Tomb of Lady Yamashiro of Taima, mother of Emperor Junnin, whose own mausoleum (id:519) lies 1km north. Her wooded mound rises like an island amid the onion fields; the Shoku Nihongi records its elevation to "imperial tomb" in 778. Worship from the perimeter.
