Group of about 85 mounds on Shinda Hill in Izumi City. As the name "Chizuka" (thousand mounds) suggests, over a thousand mounds once existed here. The site is also culturally notable for its connection to the legend of "Shinoda no Tsuma" (the white fox wife).
Systematic excavation has been conducted in only some clusters. Horizontal stone chambers and grave goods (Sue ware, ironware, beads, etc.) have been found in several mounds.
Much of the hillside is now a designated green zone ("Shinoda no Mori"), where the mounds are preserved within natural woodland. Adjacent to Izumi City Yayoi-no-Mori Historical Park. About 15–20 min walk from JR Hanwa Line "Shindayama" station.
