Overview

69m scallop-shaped mound, preserved as Shiroyama Park.Now preserved as Shiroyama Park, where visitors can stroll around the mound. Scallop-shaped mounds are relatively rare within the Mozu group and are thought to mark elite burials just below the top rank of keyhole-mound occupants.

Finds & research

Sakai City excavations confirmed the two-tier rear section and surrounding moat. Finds from the moat include cylindrical haniwa (including morning-glory-shaped), figural haniwa (house-shaped and others), and Sue ware (jars and cups). Stone paving traces confirmed.
