One of the earliest "emergent-phase" square mounds of the west-central Nara Basin. Its mirror, likely distributed by the Yamato polity, marks the dawn of the Kofun period in the region.

Archaeological view
A square mound about 15m per side at the northern ridge-tip of the Kudo hill. Among the earliest in the Nara Basin, built in the late 3rd century (the emergent phase). Three assembled wooden coffins yielded a Chinese-made mirror (14.2cm, of the same type as one from Izumi Ogonzuka), an iron sword, spear, and arrowheads.

Not an IHA mausoleum. Part of the National Historic Site "Kanmaki Kudo Kofun Group" (designated 2015); its finds are Nara Prefecture-designated cultural properties.
