An outpost of the Iwase-type chamber above the lacquerware town of Kuroe. Look up at the shelf and beams inside the open chamber to feel Wakayama's chamber culture reaching beyond the capital area.

Two views on the occupant
Archaeological view
Seven round mounds on Mt. Oyama (~96m) above Kuroe, Kainan. The chamber of Mound 1 (3.1m main room) carries one stone shelf and four stone beams — an Iwase-type chamber whose beams are nationally rare outside the Iwase-Senzuka cluster, binding the Kamenokawa chieftains to the Ki clan.
Imperial Household Agency view
Not designated by the IHA. Mounds 1 and 2 are Wakayama Prefectural Historic Sites.
Field notes
On the hill within walking range of JR Kuroe Station; the chamber is open and visitable.
