Overview

A small square mound (~30m per side) located south of Konda Gobyoyama Kofun. A 5th-century accessory mound paired in name with Nishiumaduka (id:39). Not IHA-managed; administered by Fujiidera City. Among the smaller square mounds and one of the lowest-ranked accessory burials in the Furuichi group. One of the smallest monuments among the 49 World Heritage constituents.Constituent monument of the "Mozu-Furuichi Kofun Group" UNESCO WHS (2019). At ~30m per side, this is among the smallest of the 49 World Heritage constituents. Its inclusion exemplifies the core principle behind the inscription: the Mozu-Furuichi group was recognized not for the scale of individual mounds but for the cultural and landscape integrity of the group as a whole. Protecting even small accessory mounds as part of the ensemble set an important precedent for the conservation of Japan's ancient heritage.
