A round mound (~62m diameter) in the northern Furuichi group. A 5th-century national historic site in the same area as Furumuroyama and Otoritsuka. The name "Aoyama" (Green Hill) may reflect the verdant appearance of the mound. One of the representative round-form accessory mounds in the Furuichi group, serving as a companion burial to the main keyhole mausolea.Constituent monument of the "Mozu-Furuichi Kofun Group" UNESCO WHS (2019). The northern Furuichi group area (Furumuro/Tsudo district, Fujiidera City) is a concentration of national historic sites—Furumuroyama, Otoritsuka, Jogenjizan, Aoyama, Nakayamaduka, Sukedayama, Nabeduka and others—connected by a dedicated walking route (Fujiidera City Historic Site Trail). Walking through this area, including Aoyama Kofun, allows visitors to experience the diverse mound forms (keyhole, square, round) of the Furuichi group firsthand, in a half-day circuit from Kintetsu Furuchi or Hajino-Sato stations.
Excavation records are limited. Surface-collected haniwa and pottery fragments have been reported, but burial chamber details are unconfirmed.
