Finds & research
Excavations identified stone facing and foundation stones. No haniwa had been recovered in the reported investigations, suggesting that none may have been set on the mound. The central burial facility and grave goods remain unverified.
Two views on the occupant
Archaeological view
An approximately 130m keyhole mound at Kayao, Tenri. Its front flares in an early plectrum-like form, and excavations have identified stone facing and foundation stones.
Imperial Household Agency view
This is not an IHA mausoleum. It belongs to the Yamato Kofun Group but is not one of the three mounds designated as a National Historic Site in 2014.

The surroundings include farmland. Follow Tenri City guidance and excavation materials, and do not enter private land.
