Special-pedestal-type haniwa are known, and the 1998 investigation recovered abundant haniwa from the northern moat. The central burial facility and occupant are unknown.

Archaeological view
An approximately 140m square-fronted mound at Kayao, Tenri, built in the late 3rd century. A 1998 excavation identified its northern moat and recovered a large quantity of haniwa.
Imperial Household Agency view
This is not an Imperial Household Agency mausoleum. Tenri City’s current account does not identify it as a municipally designated historic site.
