Archaeological view
An IHA-designated tomb on the summit of Mt. Nijo's male peak. Public evidence does not establish an archaeological mound form, size, date, burial facility, or finds. Separately from the designation, Toriyaguchi Kofun at the foot is an archaeological candidate for Prince Otsu's grave.
Imperial Household Agency view
Managed by the IHA as the Futakamiyama Tomb of Prince Otsu, atop Mt. Nijo's male peak (517m). Forced to die on a treason charge in 686, he is mourned in his sister's Man'yoshu elegies. Scholars favor Toriyaguchi Kofun at the foot as his true grave.
