Overview

A square mound (57m long), national historic site south of Konda Gobyoyama. 5th century. "Higashiyama" (East Hill) names its relative position. One of the square mounds forming the Ojin mausoleum's accessory zone. A mid-sized square mound administered by Fujiidera City as a World Heritage constituent monument.Constituent monument of the "Mozu-Furuichi Kofun Group" UNESCO WHS (2019). The cluster of square and round mounds south of Konda Gobyoyama is evaluated holistically as the "Furuichi Square Mound Group" and forms an integral part of the World Heritage inscription. Naming a kofun "Higashiyama" (East Hill) while pairing it with directional counterparts (West, South, North Hill) is a widespread pattern in Japanese kofun place names. Today Fujiidera City has developed this area as part of a walking route connecting the square mounds of the Furuichi group.
