Overview
A keyhole mound 103m long with a rear circle 9.5m high. It was built near the center of the Furuichi area with its front section facing east. The mound has three tiers and projections on both sides of the waist. A robber pit on the summit of the rear circle is where a stone coffin is said to have been found. A partly buried moat and a broad outer embankment surround the mound. It is dated to the middle phase of the Middle Kofun period. Part of the National Historic Site Furuichi Kofun Group, it is a constituent monument of the Mozu-Furuichi Kofun Group World Heritage Site, inscribed in 2019.
Finds & research
A robbers' pit on the summit of the rear circle is where a stone coffin is said to have been found. The cylindrical haniwa recovered include large examples, and figural haniwa have also come to light. A moat, partly silted up, rings the mound, with a broad embankment beyond it.

Occupant unknown. A keyhole mound 103m long with a rear circle 9.5m high, standing near the centre of the Furuichi area with its front section facing east. The official World Heritage website dates it to the first half of the 5th century and the Agency for Cultural Affairs to the middle of the Middle Kofun period. It is built in three tiers with projections on both sides of the waist, and a robbers' pit on the summit of the rear circle is where a stone coffin is said to have been found. It carries no IHA designation, is well preserved as a National Historic Site, and can be viewed from the perimeter.
Imperial Household Agency view
Not managed by the IHA. The mound lies in Nonaka, Fujiidera City, and is protected and managed by Fujiidera City as part of the National Historic Site "Furuichi Kofun Group". It is not an IHA mausoleum or reference site, so archaeological excavation is permitted.
