Mound No. 1 of the five-mound National Historic Site Tsukuriyama Kofun. It has been restored in Yosano Town Kofun Park with Ebisuyama, and its sarcophagus is preserved and displayed beneath a protective shelter.
Finds & research
The assembled sarcophagus yielded human remains, a Chinese-style mirror, stone bracelet, magatama, tubular and small beads, a short sword, knife, iron arrowheads, and other objects.
Two views on the occupant
Archaeological view
A 28m-diameter, 4m-high round mound at Akeshi, Yosano, built in the late 4th–early 5th century. It has stone facing and haniwa, and its assembled stone sarcophagus consists of main and subsidiary compartments.
Imperial Household Agency view
This is not an IHA mausoleum. The five-mound Tsukuriyama Kofun group was designated a National Historic Site on 8 July 1930.
