Two views on the occupant
Archaeological view
A large round mound ~58m across and 10m high (some see a scallop form), two-tiered with paving and haniwa, built in the late 5th century. The burial is uninvestigated. It overlooks the Ado River fan; surrounding small mounds were purchased as satellites in 1905.
Imperial Household Agency view
Managed by the IHA as the Ado reference site; the candidate occupant is Prince Hikoushi, father of Emperor Keitai. Purchased by the Imperial Household Ministry in 1905, when a front extension was added.
