Two views on the occupant
Archaeological view
The mound is lost, and its original shape and size are unknown. The floor stone (“Manaita”) and lid stone (“Setchin”) of a side-entry chamber remain exposed. The chamber measures about 2.5m deep, 1.5m wide and 1.3m high. The tomb is broadly dated to the 7th century; its occupant is unknown.
Imperial Household Agency view
Managed by the IHA as a satellite tomb of Emperor Kinmei's mausoleum, though its relationship to that mausoleum, in terms of occupant and date of construction, has not been archaeologically confirmed.
