Archaeological view
A scallop-shaped mound (hotategai-gata; ca. 50m long) built in the late 5th century, originally with its front facing west. It once had a surrounding moat but today survives mainly as the rear circular part, hemmed in by housing. Added to the Furuichi Kofun Group National Historic Site in 2014. It is NOT among the final constituent properties of the Mozu-Furuichi World Heritage Site (one of seven mounds dropped during the nomination process). The name "Inarizuka" likely derives from an Inari shrine once enshrined on or near the mound.
