Overview
A round mound built against the outer moat on the north side of Konda Gobyoyama Kofun, the mausoleum of Emperor Ojin. It is 50m across and 7m high and was built in two tiers. From its position it is thought to be related to the great mound, and the Imperial Household Agency administers it as a satellite tomb. It is dated to the middle phase of the Middle Kofun period. In the Mozu-Furuichi Kofun Group World Heritage Site, inscribed in 2019, it forms a single constituent property with the Ojin mausoleum and Futatsuzuka Kofun.
Finds & research
Cylindrical haniwa like those of the Ojin mausoleum and figural haniwa have been recovered from the mound. Gilt-bronze horse gear traditionally said to have been found here in 1848 is held by Konda Hachimangu Shrine. The saddle fittings and related objects are National Treasures, thought to have reached Japan from north-eastern China or the Korean Peninsula, and are among the oldest horse gear known in Japan.

Archaeological view
A satellite of Konda Gobyoyama Kofun (listed by Habikino City as a satellite within the Ojin mausoleum precinct). A round mound 50m across and 7m high, built in two tiers in the middle of the Middle Kofun period (first half of the 5th century). Cylindrical haniwa of the same type as those from the Ojin mausoleum have been recovered from it, along with figural pieces. The National Treasure horse trappings are said to have come from this mound in 1848, though documented excavation records are limited. Its close relationship with the main mausoleum suggests the occupant was someone near to the person buried there.
Imperial Household Agency view
Managed by the IHA as a satellite tomb of "Ega-no-Mofushi-no-Oka-no-Misasagi", the official name of the Emperor Ojin mausoleum (Konda Gobyoyama Kofun, 425m). The mound adjoins the northern outer moat of the Ojin mausoleum; horse gear said to have come from it is held by Konda Hachimangu Shrine to the south.
