Archaeological view
The IHA classifies the site as a round hill. The Sakurai City Tourism Association describes a circular rise about 35 m across and 1 m high at the present mausoleum; this does not establish the size of an ancient mound. Its date and burial structure remain uncertain.
Imperial Household Agency view
Managed by the IHA as the Kurahashi-no-Oka Mausoleum of Emperor Sushun, the 32nd emperor; the official form is a round hill.
