62m keyhole mound (main axis; rear circle 37m dia., 6m high; front section 47m wide). Located at the edge of a terrace on the eastern bank of the Suzuka River in Kokufu-cho, Suzuka City. Late 6th century. Surrounded by a moat and ~3m-wide embankment over 1m high, in good preservation condition. The principal mound (No.1) of the Nishinono Kofun Group; one of the representative late keyhole mounds of Mie Prefecture. Presumed tomb of a powerful Suzuka-area chieftain.
